The
Hale Garden club was first organized in September, 2001 by
suggestion of Beatty Bernard, because she needed a reliable
organization in town support her grant request for the Hale
Beautification Project, which was a key factor in it's approval.
The
Hale Garden Club meets the first Thursday of each month (April
thru November) at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall in back
of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, which is located at 407 S.
Washington St., (M-65) Hale, Mich.
We
are a fun, informal group and do not charge dues. Our projects
are funded through donations, both from our members and others
in the community.
Some
of projects are as follows:
Planting at the Iosco County Fairgrounds, in the M-65 Beautification
area plazas beginning in 2005, in front of the Plainfield
Township Hall, the Firehall, and Senior Citizen's Center,
decorated in the center of town with fall themes, and the
patriotic theme with the "God Bless America" sign,
and also the "Welcome to Hale" sign north of Hale.
We
welcome new members, and also encourage anyone who is not
a regular and wishes to join us in a particular project, please
feel free to help when you can.
In
2004 we organized most of our members on e-mail, and ordered
new shirts with our logo. On October 13, 2004 we co-hosted
the Hale Beautification Appreciation Ceremony along with the
Plainfield Township officers, for the completion of the M-65
Beautification Project and in honor of Beatty Bernard who
originated the plans, organized the community and brought
it into motion.
Our
President is Bev Mason. Secretary is Loraine Peters.
