PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP Meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by the Supervisor, followed by the pledge of allegiance. Present: Parkinson, Brown, Bassi, Bielby, Caverly and 5 Citizens. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Brown seconded by Caverly to approve the minutes of the December 15, 2004 regular meeting. Roll call vote: All Ayes. Motion carried. Financial Report: All accounts are balanced. Presentation of Bills: Motion by Caverly seconded by Brown to approve the bills as presented. Roll call vote: All Ayes. Motion carried. Tawas Area Chamber of Commerce: Mike Modrzynski, the new director for the Chamber, addressed the Board as to the newest projects proposed for the area. One is the Tall Ship Project that could create 20 to 30 full time jobs and bring many tourists to the area in the summer months. He asked for a resolution to support this project. Motion by Parkinson seconded by Bassi to support a resolution for the Tall Ship Project. Roll call vote: Ayes; Bielby, Caverly, Brown, Bassi and Parkinson. Nays; None. Motion carried. School Elections: We need to set up precinct boundaries for holding school elections. Motion by Parkinson seconded by Bielby to change Plainfield Townships’ 2 precincts to 1 precinct for local school elections only. Roll call vote: All Ayes. Motion carried. Charter
Communications Franchise Extension: Motion by Parkinson seconded by
Caverly to extend the franchise to July 2005 to finish out this contract.
Roll call vote: All Ayes. Motion Sewer Use Charges: Two businesses in town are doing extra car washing and should have their REU’s increased accordingly. Motion by Bassi seconded by Caverly to increase the REU’s for Fernelius to 3.5 and Howey’s to 3, effective the first quarter billing. Roll call vote: All Ayes. Motion carried. SBC Right –of-Way: Motion by Parkinson seconded by Brown to approve a resolution for the Michigan SBC Right-of-Way Telecommunications Permit, which is part of the Metro Act. Roll call vote: Ayes: Parkinson, Bassi, Bielby, Caverly and Brown. Nays: None. Motion carried. Fire Dept: Bob Dailey reported that all is going well with the Fire Dept. They had an ice rescue training at Loon Lake with over 20 participants. 12 firefighters are now certified ice rescue technicians. Lonnie Forshee also reported on the progress of the new fire truck. which is very much appreciated. Change in meeting dates: The February 16, 2005 and the March 16, 2005 regular meeting of the Township Board of Trustees will meet at 1 P.M. in the meeting room.
