PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP
SPECIAL BUDGET MEETING
JULY 20, 2005

Meeting was called to order at 3:00 P.M. by the Supervisor, followed by the pledge of allegiance.

Present: Parkinson, Bassi, Bielby, Caverly, Brown and 3 citizens.

Approval of Minutes: Motion by Brown seconded by Caverly to approve the minutes of the June 15, 2005 regular meeting. Roll call vote: All Ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Bassi seconded by Brown to approve the minutes of the special meeting June 22, 2005. Roll call vote. All Ayes. Motion carried.

Financial Report: All accounts are balanced.

Presentation of Bills: Motion by Caverly seconded by Brown to approve the bills as presented. Roll call vote: All Ayes. Motion carried.

Public comments: At 3:10 p.m. None.

Sting: Lt. Jeff Keister addressed the Board regarding the operation of Sting in our area. Motion by Parkinson seconded by Brown to enter into a contract for drug enforcement in our area at a cost of $1.10 per person based on the 2000 census. Roll call vote: All Ayes. Motion carried.

Resignation from Board of review: Motion by Parkinson seconded by Caverly to approve the resignation of Susan Chamberlain from the Board of Review due to her election to the school board. Roll call vote: All Ayes. Motion carried.

Board of Review Appointment: Motion by Parkinson seconded by Brown to appoint Jim Chamberlain to the Board of Review. Roll call vote: All Ayes. Motion carried.

Jim Losee addressed the Board to consider implementing a Business Improvement Awards Program. We will set up a committee to work on this program.

Township Board monthly meetings: The monthly meetings will remain the same, the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 3:00 P.M. in the meeting room.

Resolution for depositories: Motion by Bassi seconded by Brown to approve the following financial institutions: Firstbank, Independent Bank, and Michigan Class Pool. Roll call vote: All Ayes. Motion carried.

Employee Raises: Table to next month for more information.

Parks Board resignation: Roma is resigning from the Parks and Rec. Board. Duane Caverly will replace her on this Board as the Township Rep.

Fire Department: Finances are tight until the taxes are collected. The training will continue.

Motion by Bassi seconded by Caverly to adjourn at 3:50 p.m. All Ayes. Motion carried.
